What is going on with the status of star running back Bucky Irving?

The star running back injured his foot and shoulder in the Buccaneers’ Week 4 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. He has not been seen on the field ever since.

Last month, an NFL insider said Irving had crutches and a walking boot on his left foot. Greg Auman of Fox Sports noted the “focus” was placed on other running backs with Irving being down.

Irving is a key part of Tampa’s offense, and the Buccaneers are eager to get him back on the field as soon as possible.

The situation with Irving’s injury is unusual since he was never placed on injured reserve, but has missed the last four games and did not participate in practice during Tampa Bay’s Week 9 bye.

Things have not gotten any better, as Bucky Irving and WR Chris Godwin were not spotted at practice on Wednesday.

“Buckys injury really the best kept secret in the league rn unless you tapped in and saw the early reports,” one person said.

“Imagine still being able to lie about player injuries and not suffer any consequences from the NFL, when betting literally runs the NFL. Every single team should be fined millions of dollars, even more than what the Ravens got. This is pathetic now,” a second fan wrote.

“Did Bucky die and we don’t know it yet?” a third fan asked of Bucky Irving.

“This is ridiculous. Why wasn’t Bucky put on IR? He’s been out for 5 weeks, including the bye, this would make it 6. No transparency at all,” a fourth person commented.

“He wasn’t placed on IR (Bucky), so this is pretty insane with no updates as to what is going on,” one final fan stated.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had a strong start to the 2025 season, sitting at 6-2 through eight games. That record comes despite the team facing significant injuries, including to star running back Bucky Irving.

The team hasn’t given many updates, and it appears he might miss the Buccaneers’ Week 10 game against the New England Patriots.

Since he still hasn’t been placed on injured reserve, it’s safe to assume that he’ll return to the field for the Buccaneers at some point this season.

The good news for Tampa Bay is that despite offensive struggles and Irving’s absence, they’ve still managed to win games.
