The Denver Broncos were one of the best teams in the NFL in the 2025 season. However, as every offseason, they must make changes to remain competitive in a league that won’t have mercy on whoever ends up winning Super Bowl 60 on Sunday.

Denver suffered multiple injuries during the season, including a season-ending one to quarterback Bo Nix in the divisional round. Before that, they lost running back J.K. Dobbins to injury in November.

The Broncos might have plenty of options to replace Dobbins. However, a former Sean Payton player might have the upper hand if the running back joins a different team in free agency.

Alvin Kamara Named Potential Replacement For J.K. Dobbins

After using a dual-threat with RJ Harvey and Dobbins, the Broncos could replace Dobbins with five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara. The New Orleans Saints star was mentioned in trade rumors during the 2025 NFL season, and the Broncos could offer him a nice situation to continue his career. Seth Trachtman of YardBarker explained:

“Sean Payton is still fond of his old Saints players, and few had a bigger impact during his time than Kamara. He’s clearly on the backend of his career, playing only 11 games and accumulating 4.0 yards per touch last season, but he could be a viable trade option to complement RJ Harvey.”

Back in November, Alvin Kamara threatened to retire if the Saints traded him. The prospect of joining Payton could entice him, but nothing is certain. The Broncos could have a revamped offense next season, with Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert also linked with the AFC West champions.
