Chloe Kim plans to change her social media after calling out what she described as disturbing behavior from fans online. The two-time Olympic gold medalist shared the news on Instagram on Friday. Basically, she turned off her direct messages for valid reasons.
Kim competed in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan even though she had a serious shoulder injury. She went into the Games with two gold medals in women’s halfpipe and won a silver medal this time. Even with the injury, she still performed at a high level.
After the final, Kim reflected on her journey and thanked her competitors. “Such an honor to be part of this sport,” she wrote. “A month ago, I wasn’t even sure if I’d be able to compete. I was in the darkest space mentally and felt so much fear coming back.” She said landing her run in the final felt like the most rewarding moment of her career.
She also congratulated Japan’s Mitsuki Ono and South Korea’s Choi Gaon, who won gold. “Your strength and mental fortitude is beyond inspirational,” Kim wrote to Choi.
Kim Addresses Fake Images And Engagement Rumor

In the days after the competition, Kim said she received fake and disturbing images and videos through Instagram. She addressed the issue directly with her followers.
“Hello hello! Happy Friday! I unfortunately had to turn off my DMs due to people taking things too far,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “I’ve seen too many fake and very disturbing images/videos and I need to protect myself.”

She told fans she hopes to return to social media soon. “I really do enjoy connecting with you all! Much love,” she added.
One fake image showed Kim appearing to get engaged to her boyfriend, Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns. Kim shut down the rumor during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “Don’t fall for it, guys,” she said. She confirmed the photo used artificial intelligence and aimed to mislead fans.
Kim has not given more details about the other images. She has said she needs space and wants to feel safe right now.
Even with the negative attention online, many people are still praising her performance in Milan.
