Pittsburgh Steelers’ Quarterback Plans Leak, And Their Fans Won’t Like It One Bit

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made several intriguing moves during the 2026 NFL offseason. After replacing Mike Tomlin with Mike McCarthy as head coach, the front office put together a competitive team.
They added wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and running back Rico Dowdle to strengthen the offense. But, they still need the last piece to assemble a team that can go further than the wild-card round in the 2026 playoffs.
With the NFL draft three weeks away, they don’t know whether Aaron Rodgers will return to the field, call it a career or join a different franchise.
Pittsburgh Steelers Have Uninspiring Plans To Replace Aaron Rodgers

Talking with ESPN’s Brooke Pryor, Steelers owner Art Rooney II said he expected the quarterback to make up his mind before the draft, which begins on April 23.
“I have not talked to him. Coach [McCarthy] has been in contact with him pretty regularly,” Rooney said. “I think a decision is probably coming soon.”

Pryor offered her thoughts on the situation, saying that the Steelers could bring a Day 3 quarterback in the upcoming draft.
“I think it’s a very real possibility that they could draft a quarterback, maybe not in the first round,” Pryor said. “They have other needs to address, but a later-round guy.”
Rodgers went 327 of 498 for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He played at a solid level in 2025. One would imagine he could do it better with a more talented cast around him.
