Fake Story About Todd Gurley Is Going Viral

A fake quote attributed to former Georgia star Todd Gurley has gone viral online this weekend. 

The post claims Gurley said a booster handed him $100,000 after he tore his ACL against Auburn in 2014.

Of course, neither the quote nor the report is authentic.

It’s from the No3 Sports account and also attributes the quote to Pete Nakos knockoff, “Pete Nokos.”

No3 is a satire account known for publishing fake stories. Still, many users reacted as though the former Georgia star had admitted to receiving an impermissible payment.

“Why would you say this publicly lol?” someone asked.

Someone else wrote, “SEC has always cheated but nobody cared.”

A third added, “The funniest part is him specifying it was the most cash he’d ever seen like the hug didn’t already make that clear.”

Another user commented, “Hahaha this is why the SEC complaining now that EVERYONE gets paid is hilarious. Harder to compete on a level playing field!”

One fan saw the post for what it was. 

“No3 always cooking because these are always so believable😂,” they laughed.

People will believe anything if you add a nice photo.
