Kelly Stafford is back in the spotlight after a birthday video shared to her Instagram Story sparked criticism from some social media users.
The wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford celebrated her 37th birthday over the weekend with friends. One clip from the celebration quickly made the rounds online.
The video shows Stafford flipping off the camera before breaking into a playful dance. She twirls her arm as if swinging a lasso, shakes her hips for several seconds and then smiles.
The clip prompted criticism from some viewers, who described the behavior as inappropriate, particularly given Stafford’s role as a mother of four daughters.
TheSpun highlighted some of the criticism supposedly coming from fans online:
“Instant divorce if my wife does this and posts about it,” one fan wrote.
“2 days ago she was crying about how much she misses her husband when he’s at training camp. It really shows. Nice way for a wife and mom of 4 kids to behave,” one fan added.
“She loves the attention,” one fan added.
“Being on social media and letting others influence your mental health and actions is not good. Get off social media Ms Stafford and raise your kids,” one fan added.
“She just can’t stand not being the center of attention…..another embarrassing attempt at relevancy…..what’s next a floor cheer with her former cheer team members at Georgia?” one fan added.
Kelly Stafford Is No Stranger To Online Criticism
Beyond supporting her husband’s NFL career, she has built a sizable following through her podcast and social media presence, where she regularly discusses family life, football and personal challenges.
Last season, she announced she was stepping away from her podcast for about a month to prioritize her family and mental health.
“I wanted to let you guys know that I will be taking a break for about a month,” she said.
She explained that balancing the podcast with raising four daughters was becoming increasingly difficult.
“I have four daughters and a husband… this podcast is another one of my babies and I love it a lot, but not as much as them.”
Stafford said she created the podcast to build a community where people could support one another rather than judge mistakes.
She’s definitely being judged right now.
