President Donald Trump just shared his early Super Bowl thoughts. He spoke with ESPN’s Laura Rutledge at the Patriot Games finale in Ohio. The 2026 NFL season sits right around the corner.
Trump named three teams he likes for a title run. He started with the New England Patriots.
“I’ll pick a few. I think New England looks good,” Trump said.
He then turned to the New York Giants.
“I think the Giants. I like their quarterback a lot,” Trump added. That quarterback is Jaxson Dart. Trump has praised Dart many times before.

Trump has called Dart a future Hall of Famer in the past. He once described the young signal-caller as a “male model” and “beautiful guy.” Dart even introduced Trump at a New York rally earlier this year.
The president kept going.
“They say the LA Rams are looking very strong, but I better not get into this too much. I’m gonna get myself in trouble if I do,” Trump said.
He closed with a broader view of the league.
“I think you have a lot of good teams. A lot of great teams and we’ll see how it turns out. I’ll be watching.”

Fans quickly reacted to the comments. Some joked that Trump just jinxed all three teams. Others pointed to his clear favoritism toward Dart and the Giants.
Donald Trump Continues Strong Interest in NFL

This is not the first time Donald Trump has weighed in on league matters. He recently pushed for major rule changes ahead of the new season. Those ideas include fixing the kickoff format and limiting streaming games.
Trump has long stayed involved with the sport. He attended last year’s Super Bowl as the first sitting president to do so. He also shows up at regular-season games from time to time.
The Patriots reached the Super Bowl last season before falling short. The Rams remain a strong contender in many early projections. The Giants hope Dart can lead a real turnaround under new coach John Harbaugh.
Trump’s comments arrived at the perfect time. Training camps are underway. Preseason games begin soon. Every team is still undefeated on paper.
Whether any of his three picks reach the big game remains unknown. The president made clear he will follow along either way. NFL fans now have another early storyline to debate.
