Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS Sports analyst Tony Romo was arrested last month. It happened in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Initially, police pulled Romo over on Interstate 43 after observing him driving erratically. Subsequently, he was asked to step out of his vehicle and was taken to a nearby police station. That is where officers administered standard field sobriety tests. However, according to the released police bodycam footage, Romo performed poorly on these tests.

He also refused to submit to a preliminary breathalyzer test on the advice of his attorneys. As a result, the officer informed him that he had failed and officially placed him under arrest.

A first public response was issued more than a month after his initial arrest. Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo had said nothing since July 23. Then a statement was released through a spokesperson on Thursday.

Via TMZ, the spokesperson has said this: “Tony accepts full responsibility for his actions and has taken proactive steps to ensure that this isolated civil matter is properly resolved.”

“We are working with local authorities to bring this matter to a close, and we are communicating with CBS about next steps,” the spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, three new citations were added to the Wisconsin case file. First-offense OWI, unsafe passing, and open intoxicants were listed. Consequently, a September 21 court date now covers four citations.
