The Buffalo Bills escaped SoFi Stadium with an overtime 37-34 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday. Josh Allen and Co. went the extra mile to give the Rams their third loss of the season.

The result prompted Sean McVay to make notable roster changes. McVay might not be the only one making changes ahead of Week 6. Bills head coach Joe Brady issued a blunt warning to James Cook after the game.

The first-year HC addressed the media on Tuesday, discussing what changes he might make if Cook’s fumbling tendencies continued.

“Look, he’s doing so many good things running the football. I don’t want to lose sight of how great he is running the ball right now. But putting the ball on the ground, it’s negating all the positive. I have all the confidence in him. That’s why I put him right back out there. But obviously, at some point there has to be consequences to when we’re putting negative stuff out there,” Brady said.

As soon as Brady’s words hit social media, fans reacted. Many insisted that the Bills didn’t appreciate Cook and wanted him out of the team.

“Empty threat or not? Might be worth selling James Cook for a similar tier RB or tier down,” one said.

“Throwing the star RB under the bus in a press conference after a big win when your QB makes 2-3 bone headed decisions a game? Yea this dude is clueless,” another wrote.

“Why does everyone in Buffalo hate James Cook?” one questioned.

“James Cook is never seeing a TD from less than 16 yards out again this season so that the QB with 98 interceptions can take care of the ball lololol,” a fourth commented.

“If I’m James Cook I’m demanding a trade. The amount of disrespect from his own team is crazy,” a fifth wrote.

Cook has 10 fumbles since the start of last season, which is a terrible stat for a player who must take care of the ball as carefully as the quarterback. This season, he has carried the ball 95 times for 532 yards and five touchdowns.

The Bills have Ray Davis, Frank Gore Jr and Ty Johnson in the running back room. Time will tell if one of them takes over from Cook.
