Cam Skattebo’s second NFL season has gone from GOOD to BAD. The New York Giants running back entered the campaign with renewed expectations after his rookie season was cut short due to an ankle injury.

What started as a promising season turned into something dark for the former Arizona State running back. He continues to struggle with fumbles, which has frustrated head coach John Harbaugh.

Skattebo got zero carries in Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints. Fans argued the team benched him, but Harbaugh denied that notion. Ahead of Week 7, however, the team’s immediate plans don’t include Skattebo as the lead running back.

Giants Eye Tracy Or Outside Addition At Running Back

ESPN’s Dan Graziano offered a grim update on Skattebo’s status on Wednesday. He reported that the Giants are weighing whether to give Tyrone Tracy the keys to the car or add external help to bolster the running game.

“They’d also love to alter things at running back, apparently. The new coaching staff has clearly soured on Cam Skattebo, the Giants just released Najee Harris, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see them add someone from the outside or give Tyrone Tracy Jr. a bigger chance.”

The team officially announced JJ McCarthy will start against the Houston Texans in Week 7. However, an official announcement regarding Skattebo’s reduced role has yet to be made. Former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale urged the Giants to make a move for Jonathan Taylor, but that trade might come at a hefty price.

Is Cam’s fun all over, or is this just a lesson in a young and prosperous career?
