Philip Rivers is trying to make his way back to the league at the age of 44.

The Indianapolis Colts are desperate to save their dream season.

A report on Monday said that quarterback Philip Rivers would work out for the Colts on Tuesday.

The report came after Daniel Jones’ 2025 season ended when he tore his Achilles tendon during Sunday’s road loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Per multiple reports on Tuesday morning, Rivers actually had his workout with his former team on Monday night.

Rivers, who turned 44 on Monday, ‘threw the ball well’ during his workout with the Colts, according to ESPN.

It remains to be seen if the Colts will go through with signing a man who has 10 children at home to take care of.

A few weeks ago, the Colts were 8-2 and had the best record in their division and conference. Less than a month later, the team is 8-5 and has lost three games in a row. They are currently in third place in the AFC South and completely out of the playoff picture.

The team is now considering 44-year-old Philip Rivers for a practice squad position as backup Riley Leonard is considered the team’s starter moving forward.

However, Leonard is reportedly dealing with a knee injury. That leaves Brett Rypien as the team’s only healthy option heading into Week 15 against a tough Seattle Seahawks team on the road.

Philip Rivers hasn’t played in five years. He last appeared in the NFL in 2020 when he started 16 games for the Colts. He was 39 at the time and certainly a serviceable option at the position. His last full season produced 4,169 yards with 24 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

The Colts are praying that Rivers still has something left in the tank.
