Former NFL Executive Amy Trask Reveals She’s Receiving Disturbing Threats Over Brock Purdy Comments

Brock Purdy’s strong start to the 2026 NFL season has put some old criticism back under the microscope.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback has thrown 13 touchdowns through five games, helping his team to a blazing 5-0 start to 2026. His performances have also revived discussion about a controversial assessment from the 2024 playoffs.
Former Oakland Raiders CEO Amy Trask once placed Purdy below the other seven quarterbacks remaining in the postseason. She acknowledged his ability but said he did not belong in their category.
Now, Trask says the backlash has crossed a line. She revealed having received “venom and threats” over the old comments, while stressing that criticism should never become threatening abuse.
I made this comment almost 3 years ago, shortly thereafter I acknowledged that I made a mistake (I even offered to buy Brock ice cream),” she wrote in a tweet. “The reason I share this now is to address those who are spewing venom and making threats – it’s okay to make a mistake, and it’s fine to tell someone they made a mistake – it’s not okay to do so with venom and threats – venom and threats directed at me are of no consequence to me, I don’t care – but directing venom and threats at others can have a devastating impact, so don’t.
Brock Purdy Has Changed The Narrative

Purdy’s recent production has helped explain why the old assessment resurfaced. He has completed 69% of his passes for 1,196 yards, 13 touchdowns and two interceptions through five games.
Tom Brady has also praised Purdy’s play, referring to him as a potential MVP contender.
Trask’s message is pretty clear; people can challenge her opinions without sending threats. Purdy’s success may have changed the debate, but personal abuse remains unacceptable.
