NFL insider Ian Rapoport has starred in his fair share of controversies during his career. Back in January, ESPN insider Adam Schefter rejected Rapoport’s report on John Harbaugh losing the Baltimore Ravens locker room before the franchise fired him.

That wasn’t the only time Rapoport starred in a confrontation with another insider. Last year, Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz confronted the NFL Network’s talent at a Starbucks during the NFL Combine. Pro Football Talk reported that Schultz got in Rapoport’s face, asking him to stop telling people something unknown about him.

“If you have anything to say it to me, say it to my fucking face,” Schultz reportedly said. “If this continues we’re going to have a fucking problem.”

During an appearance on Andrew Marchand’s podcast on Thursday, Rapoport shared details of the incident. A clip shared on X on Friday shows Rapoport revealing why Schultz was so upset at him.

“Have you had anybody yell like one inch from your face? It’s very strange,” Rapoport said. “This is Day 5, I’m tired, I’m drinking coffee, and he comes screaming in my face about, ‘We need to talk.’ I’m like ‘Why do we need to talk?’ ‘We need to talk right now.’ And he’s like, ‘You’ve been telling people that I’ve been giving players Uber stock for scoops,’ which is a totally hilarious thing. I’m sure if I heard that, I probably would have told everyone, but I hadn’t heard that.”

Rapoport detailed that 30 of the 50 people in the place at the moment were reporters. He noted how quickly Mike Florio got the story and how he ultimately informed his boss about what would happen soon after that encounter.

“He had to let people at the NFL know, because it’s like a workplace thing,” he added.

That moment sent shockwaves through the NFL, but nothing else happened after that. A year later, Rapoport shared his version of the story. His contract with the NFL Network is up in May, and he doesn’t know what will happen after ESPN’s merger with NFL Media.
