Josh Allen’s Top WR Target In Serious Jeopardy Of Missing Week 1 Game With Mystery Injury
This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

The Buffalo Bills have mostly been healthy throughout the offseason and the preseason. Although there had been a few players who had dealt with minor injuries, most of their stars have been healthy – until now.
Josh Allen’s favorite target over the last two seasons, wide receiver Khalil Shakir, was held out of practice by the Bills. He’s reportedly out due to an injury.
The Buffalo Bills Overly Cautious About Khalil Shakir

CBS Sports’ football senior Matt Zenitz broke the news on his account on X.
“Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir has missed practice time recently with an undisclosed injury but there’s currently optimism he’ll end up being available for Buffalo’s opener vs. the #Texans, sources tell @CBSSports,” Zenitz wrote.
He further added, “The Bills are being cautious with him.”
It remains unclear what ailment Shakir is going through right now. The Buffalo Bills did not disclose his injury. But apparently, the star receiver’s injury may not be too serious. The team is reportedly optimistic that the 26-year-old will be good to go for their season opener against the Houston Texans.
Shakir was the Bills’ top receiver in the last two seasons. He made 76 receptions for 21 yards and four touchdowns in 2024. In 2025, he had 72 receptions for 719 yards. He’s expected to have another big year in Buffalo.
DJ Moore Ready To Step Up

With Josh Allen healthy, the Buffalo Bills are widely expected to have a better campaign in the upcoming season. After their last playoff exit, it is safe to say their goal is to reach the Super Bowl.
They traded for another receiver, DJ Moore, in March. The 29-year-old has already established a working relationship with Allen and discussed his role with the team.
“Yeah, I think our off-field chemistry and friendship has accelerated the on-field connection. We talk almost every other play about something dealing with a route,” Moore said, according to SI.com.
While Moore had his own injury scare in the preseason debut, he’s good to go for their season opener.
