Joy Taylor started an important discussion after sharing strong opinions about pregnancy and motherhood during a recent episode of her “Two Personal Show.” Taylor said society often ignores how difficult pregnancy can be for women, both physically and emotionally. She also argued that medical care and childbirth technology would probably look very different if men could get pregnant.
Taylor also criticized what she called old-fashioned expectations about motherhood. She pushed back against the idea that women automatically “owe it to society” to have children. During the discussion, she said people do not speak honestly enough about the struggles many women go through during pregnancy and then the recovery.
“We need to have real conversations about motherhood and pregnancy,” Taylor said on the show. She added that many people treat pregnancy like “this thing that everyone can do, and everyone should just embrace it.”
Taylor made it clear that she respects motherhood deeply, even though she has never had children herself. She explained that years around family and children helped her understand the realities many mothers face.
“I know how hard it is to [be a mom] because I have eyeballs,” Taylor said. “Because I have the ability to see someone else experience something and be able to apply what that experience would be for my life.”
Taylor’s Comments Got Quick Attention

Actually, Taylor shared her belief that men would push for faster medical progress if they experienced pregnancy themselves.
“If men could get pregnant, you could get an abortion at a drive-thru,” Taylor said. “The studies that would have been done on giving birth, you could give birth and feel absolutely nothing, and recover in three days.”
“We need to have real conversations about motherhood and pregnancy.”
Joy Taylor says she wishes men could get pregnant as she pushes back on the narrative that women owe it to society to have children, calling it bullsh*t.

She argued that society would invest far more time and money into childbirth recovery, pain management, and reproductive care if men carried children too. Taylor said those advances would sit “light years beyond” where they stand today.
The debate reopened larger conversations about healthcare research, maternal recovery, and access to reproductive services. Taylor’s opinion touched on issues that continue to divide public opinion across the country.
But Taylor stayed firm in her thoughts. Nearly a year after leaving Fox Sports, Taylor is now launching a new daily sports podcast. The show will feature short episodes, covering the biggest sports stories of the day.
