Broadcast partners Joe Buck and Troy Aikman are reportedly not seeing eye to eye these days. Tension has developed between them, and it has everything to do with contracts and money.

It was reported on Wednesday that Buck “broke the ice” on the topic with Aikman on Monday before ESPN’s broadcast of Rams-Bills. However, that would lead to an argument that ultimately de-escalated. Aikman has not yet received a formal offer for an extension with the network.

Despite the argument, they would go on to call the Rams-Bills game without any issues. However, just because they can work together just fine does not mean this issue has been put to bed.

Following news of issues between them, footage has come out showing Troy Aikman looking rather uncomfortable on set. Instead of the usual smile that he displays, the former QB looked pissed as the guys went through pregame.

Back in September, Buck agreed to a six-year extension with ESPN worth around $108 million to remain the play-by-play voice of “Monday Night Football.” The deal means Buck will be around for the network’s second Super Bowl in 2031 after handling its first in February 2027.

Troy Aikman is currently on a five-year, $90 million deal that will expire after February’s Super Bowl. What happens from there is up in the air. Should they both separate, it would end a shared booth of 25 years, the longest-running pairing in NFL history.

Four years ago, ESPN signed Buck and Aikman to five-year deals, ending their tenures at Fox. During that time, Aikman was the first to agree to a deal before Fox agreed to let Buck out of the last year of his contract.

The ongoing saga will remain uncomfortable until a resolution with Aikman happens.
