Former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee has proven to be a major asset for ESPN. Even though he is not an ESPN employee, his presence at the network has taken its numbers to new levels.
In a statement, McAfee explained that his son, Midas, arrived four weeks early. The baby spent around 36 hours in intensive care following the emergency C-section birth.
“Due to Samantha having a high risk pregnancy and severe preeclampsia, the decision was made to have an emergency C-Section on Friday night. Baby boy officially entered the world on May 22nd at 10:42PM as a 6lb 6oz screaming young legend… 10 Toes, 10 Fingers, full head of hair,” McAfee wrote in a statement.
Pat McAfee Nearing Extension With ESPN

While his current deal with ESPN expires in 2028, the network and the analyst engaged in extension talks, Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported on Monday.
The finalization is not imminent, but it seems that they are on the right track. His presence in the sports media has grown over the years. He has had high-profile names such as LeBron James and Aaron Rodgers over the years.
“McAfee has demonstrated why he’s worth a fortune to both ESPN and DraftKings. He’s a draw for the younger male demographic and was a proven driver of customer acquisition for DraftKings’s rival FanDuel in the early days of sports-gambling legalization,” Glasspiegel wrote.
It seems that it’s only a matter of time before the deal becomes official.
