The Philadelphia Eagles face a massive crisis in their backfield after losing another key running back to injury. Superstar starter Saquon Barkley was already sidelined with a significant lower-body ailment suffered in a previous matchup. Consequently, running back Will Shipley stepped into a much larger role to help carry the offense.

Disaster struck during the London game when Shipley suffered an injury against the Jaguars.

Not only did they lose the game, but they have also lost Shiply.

Philadelphia Eagles running back Will Shipley suffered a partial plantar fascia tear in his foot. Consequently, medical experts expect him to miss 4 to 6 weeks. The team will place him on short-term injured reserve.

Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed disappointment over the injury. Furthermore, the staff expects him to return for the playoff push. You can read the full analysis at Philadelphia Eagles.

Before exiting Sunday’s game with a foot injury, Will Shipley recorded 20 carries for 57 rushing yards. The rookie running back also contributed to the passing attack by hauling in 5 receptions for 31 yards on the year. The Eagles had their worst rushing performance in more than 11 years on Sunday. They tallied just 22 yards on 18 carries.

Shipley primarily served as a backup weapon and special teams kick returner during the first 4 weeks. Injuries to Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby suddenly forced Shipley into the starting role against Jacksonville.

Now, the promising young running back has hit a major roadblock.
