REPORT: The Sean McVay Era In Los Angeles Could Be Nearing Its End
This article was originally published on Total Pro Sports.

Sean McVay has become one of the best coaches in the NFL in recent years. He made the Los Angeles Rams perennial contenders while playing in two Super Bowls (1-1) and developing one of the most dangerous offenses in the league.
McVay, 40, has a long career ahead, but he might take a break soon to focus on other stuff. After a solid 2025 campaign that ended with a loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game, McVay has renewed expectations.
However, his run could come to an abrupt end, according to a former NFL player.
Sean McVay Could Take A Break From Coaching Soon

Heading into his 10th season leading the Rams, McVay still has a lot in the tank. That said, at this young age, he might soon focus on different things. According to former All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith Sr., McVay could take a break from coaching once Matthew Stafford retires.
“Coach McVay may take a few years off because he has young children. He’s one of those guys who’s all-in and becomes a hermit of football when he’s in with football – and we all know you can’t do that AND be a father, husband, uncle, all that stuff. So you kind of need that time to just get your sabbatical,” Smith said.

Mike Tomlin stepped down as the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach at the end of the 2025 season. Perhaps McVay could follow in his footsteps once his starting quarterback decides to call it a day.
