While only one of them has made headlines in the past nine years, the Mahomes family has two star athletes. Patrick Mahomes often steals the spotlight as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, a three-time Super Bowl champion, and a two-time MVP.

What many don’t know (or forget) is that Brittany Mahomes was a household name during his time in college. While Mahomes thrived at Texas Tech, Brittany attended The University of Texas at Tyler, where she played soccer for the school’s team.

The school made a major announcement involving Brittany. She will be inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame along with Dr. Howard Patterson and the 2016 Softball Team. The three inductees will be part of he department’s sixth class.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback reacted to the news with an Instagram story. He shared the news without further comment.

The program issued a statement celebrating Mahomes’ impact.

“Brittany Mahomes put together one of the strongest careers in UT Tyler women’s soccer history from 2013-2016. She stands second all-time in total points (78) and goals (31), third in game-winning goals (10) and assists (16), and tied for third in total games played (74),” the statement read.

“She also put together arguably the best single-season in program history in 2016, scoring the most points (40), goals (18), and game-winning goals (7). In that same season, she posted four different games with three goals, tied for the best mark in program history for a single match.”

Patrick Mahomes has been linked with Hall of Fame news this week. First, he couldn’t believe Bill Belichick didn’t make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now, he is happy that his wife made it.
