The San Francisco 49ers have managed to remain competitive and among the best teams in the NFL amid a 2026 season that hasn’t been kind to them when it comes to injuries. The NFC West franchise has dealt with multiple health issues in eight weeks, especially in the wide receiver room.

Brandon Aiyuk’s return could offer them some hope, but the team was hit with more bad news on Saturday. Another star wide receiver sustained an injury that will keep him sidelined for multiple weeks.

On Saturday, Adam Schefter reported that the Niners had placed wide receiver Christian Kirk on injured reserve. The veteran wideout suffered a meniscus injury during Thursday’s practice.

Kirk joined Mike Evans (ribs, Achilles) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) as the three players inactive for Sunday’s duel against the Las Vegas Raiders.

San Francisco is 6-1 after losing its first game against the Falcons in Week 7. They have been linked with a trade for Garrett Wilson, but the Jets are unwilling to move their wide receiver. With Kirk out, Brock Purdy will have fewer weapons to connect with on Sunday.
