Shedeur Sanders Reveals New Jersey Number for Next Season

Shedeur Sanders is heading into Year 2 with an apt jersey number.
Sanders, a fifth-round pick, ended last season as the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
He started seven games for the team after beginning the season behind Joe Flacco and Dillion Gabriel, winning three of them.
The former Jackson State and Colorado star threw for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He snuck into the Pro Bowl, benefiting from injuries and other quarterbacks declining invitations.
Sanders was recently named as a potential piece in an intriguing trade proposal.
New head coach Todd Monken hasn’t committed to him as a starter, although it appears that he’s leaning that way.
Browns Reveal New Shedeur Sanders Jersey Number

In the meantime, Shedeur has received some good news, as the Browns have announced that the QB will wear No. 2 next season.
The 24-year-old played with the number in college, and it is part of his 2Legendary brand.
Perhaps this could also be considered a sign of their willingness to stick with him as a starter.
“I think what you see is elite playmaking ability,” Monken said of Sanders at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. “That’s in him. You’ve seen it, we’ve seen it, you saw it in college, you saw it on tape last year. Sure there’s a ways to go, but what rookie isn’t? What first-year player doesn’t have a long way to go? I’m excited to get started with him and all of our quarterbacks and all of our players.”
The Browns have made it clear that all their QBs will be given an opportunity to make a case for the role. That includes Gabriel and Deshaun Watson, who sat out due to injury last season.
“Sure, I think it’s an open competition,” Monken noted. “I don’t know why it wouldn’t be an open competition, and I don’t mean to say that harshly. But I don’t think there’s enough on film over the last couple of years one way or the other to say, ‘Boy, we have a starter at quarterback.’”
The Browns’ starting announcement is probably among the most anticipated this year.
