Johnny Manziel had a tumultuous journey to the NFL. From selling autographs to avoid a major punishment from the NCAA when student-athletes couldn’t profit off their image and likeness, to partying hard with celebrities, he lived a lot in a short time.
The Cleveland Browns picked him with the No. 22 pick in the 2014 NFL draft, going on a rollercoaster that finished two years later. The AFC North team couldn’t get what they wanted from Manziel and ended up cutting him after two seasons.
He played 14 games, going 147 of 258 for 1,675 yards and seven touchdowns with seven interceptions. Manziel didn’t watch film, not knowing that the team was well aware of it.
Johnny Manziel Revealed Plans To Kill Himself

The Netflix documentary series “Untold” took a closer look at Manziel’s time with the Browns and how everything went south for him. He revealed that he went on a “$5 million bender” before he decided to end his own life following his release from the Browns.
“I had planned to do everything that I wanted to do at that point in my life — spend as much money as I possibly could and then my plan was to take my life,” he said. “Months prior, I went and bought a gun that I knew I was going to use. I wanted to get as bad as humanly possible to where it made sense and it made it seem like an excuse and an out for me. Still to this day, don’t know what happened, but the gun just clicked on me.”
He seems to be doing better now, but every now and then, Manziel makes headlines thanks to his antics. He will fight Bob Menery in a boxing bout scheduled for May 23 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
