New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart met with teammates this week after fallout from his appearance at a Donald Trump campaign event continued inside the locker room.
Dart drew attention on May 22 when he introduced Trump at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York. The rookie quarterback praised the president before bringing him to the stage.
“What an honor, what a privilege it is to be here,” Dart said at the event. “Without further ado, I’m grateful, I’m honored, I’m pleasured to introduce the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump.”
The moment spread across social media and got reactions from fans and players alike. Giants linebacker Abdul Carter publicly criticized Dart after the event. The two players later settled the issue over the weekend, but the conversation inside the team facility continued into this week.
Giants Leaders Address Situation

According to NFL Network reporters Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport, the Giants asked Dart to speak with teammates during a team meeting on Wednesday.
“Other team leaders spoke up as well, and Dart and the players worked through it,” Garafolo said. “They are moving forward.”
Dart already entered the summer under pressure after a productive rookie season, which raised expectations across the organization.
He finished the 2025 season with 2,272 passing yards, 487 rushing yards, and 24 total touchdowns. Despite those numbers, Dart received only one first-place vote for AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The quarterback recently addressed criticism surrounding his draft slide and public attention away from football.
“I guess more people have conversations and things to say about me sliding that has nothing to do with my play on the field,” Dart told the New York Post. “Turn off the pictures of the players and just look at the numbers, I feel like they speak for themselves, I don’t need to argue that.”
Dart also admitted the outside noise motivates him.
“It’s a chip on my shoulder for sure,” he said.
The Giants now hope the meeting helps the team move forward before training camp begins. Dart remains one of the key faces of the franchise heading into the 2026 season, and the organization expects him to take another step this fall.
