Shedeur Sanders worked his way to the starting role on the Cleveland Browns’ roster in 2025. After being selected with the No. 144 pick in the 2025 draft, the former Colorado Buffaloes star needed to prove himself.

He ended up starting the final seven games of the season, showing glimpses and looking like the best option for the team in 2026.

With Deshaun Watson returning from injury, the Browns decided to have a quarterback battle for the second consecutive season. Speculation about a potential trade sparked in recent weeks, but are they believable?

During a Wednesday appearance on “The Dawgs” podcast, analyst Josh Aul went after fans for speculating that the Browns could move Sanders this summer.

“Could the Browns trade Shedeur Sanders this summer? Back in January, what did the Browns do? They held a massive coaching search,” Aul said. “And what was the big reveal that came out from that stretch? They were making the head coaching candidates write essays and lost in all of that was one tiny detail.

“The questionnaire consisted of six questions and one of them was tailored towards a specific player, Shedeur Sanders. Each head coaching candidate was asked on the questionnaire how they would continue the development of Shedeur Sanders. There is a bigger plan in 2026 for Shedeur Sanders.”

Todd Monken said he hadn’t made a decision on who would start for the Browns in 2026. This remains an open race, but nobody knows the consequences of its results.
