Following his arrest in East Palestine, Ohio, the legal and professional situation for San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was resolved rapidly.

Because he finalized his case the morning after his arrest, he avoided a prolonged trial. However, he remains subject to formal league evaluation.

On Monday morning, prosecutors filed a negotiated plea deal in Columbiana County Municipal Court. The initial, more severe charge of engaging in prostitution was officially amended and downgraded.

York entered a plea of “no contest” to two misdemeanor counts:

  • Possessing criminal tools (which, under Ohio law, typically involves any device or article, such as a cell phone, used to facilitate an offense).

A no-contest plea means he accepted the court’s punishment without formally admitting guilt. Jed York was sentenced to one day in jail for each count, ordered to run concurrently. He was also ordered to pay a total of $1,150 in fines.
