New York Giants’ 2-Time 1,000-Yard Superstar Is Reportedly At Risk Of Getting Cut

A surprise roster-cut candidate emerged for the New York Giants in recent hours. That name is Tyrone Tracy, the young running back who became a major surprise in the 2024 season. The room already knew the tape.
He missed a blitz pickup against Minnesota. Jaxson Dart took a shot and went to the tent. Against Miami, he coughed it up untouched in the red zone. Two games. Two killers.

John Harbaugh did not bury him. He also did not shrug.
“I don’t think you say, hey, a bad play or even two bad plays nullifies a whole career body of work,” Harbaugh said. “In the last two games, he’s had two things you don’t want to have.”
Tyrone Tracy Fell Fast on the Depth Chart
Tyrone Tracy still has the résumé. The 2024 fifth-rounder cleared 1,000 scrimmage yards in each of his first two seasons. Only Saquon Barkley and Odell Beckham Jr. had done that as Giants. He ran for 839 yards as a rookie. He added 740 rushing yards and 288 receiving yards last year after Cam Skattebo went down.
That history is why the cut talk stings. The unofficial depth chart already dumped him from the co-starter line. Skattebo sits first. Tracy now shares the second group with Devin Singletary and Najee Harris.
The cap math is cold. New York would save about $1.08 million and eat roughly $72,000 in dead money. A cheap, productive back is still easy to dump on paper.
Matt Nagy tried to slow the panic.
“His resume speaks for itself,” the coordinator said.
Harbaugh added that Tracy is “very conscientious” and “beating himself up.” The rest of his snaps, the coach said, were pluses.
Tyrone Tracy Says the Film Is Better Than the Headlines
Tyrone Tracy wants the next snap, not sympathy.
“A lot of people really just see the two bad plays, which is the big news and everything that’s going on right now,” he said. “But I feel like I had a good game when I watched the film, being really hard on myself. The fumble is a never [acceptable] event. But I feel like I was reading the holes well, my pass protection was correct.”
He also refused to bark at Harris.
“We’re all alpha males, and we all think that we are the best in the room. We’re all going to push each other.”
The missed block still sits with Dart’s hit crowd. One blown assignment on a young quarterback changes the temperature. Harris is a proven pass protector. Singletary scored in the preseason. Skattebo is back from the ankle.
Keeping four backs is possible. Cutting a 26-year-old with two 1,000-yard seasons still looks reckless. Waiver-wire teams would line up.
