NFL Doctor Drops Frightening Diagnosis On Jack Campbell’s Neck Injury — “This Is Not The Norm”

The Detroit Lions might be 5-2, but nobody cares about anything other than Jack Campbell.
The Lions linebacker suffered a scary neck injury during the fourth quarter of the Lions’ 19-15 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Campbell made a routine tackle on Minnesota tight end T.J. Hockenson.
During the collision, Campbell’s neck and back appeared to crunch in a way that human bodies aren’t supposed to. Almost immediately, he went limp, lay face-down and motionless on the turf. Medical personnel and training staff attended to him on the field for the next few minutes.
Campbell was carefully secured to a spinal/backboard, loaded onto a medical cart, and transported via ambulance to a local Detroit hospital.
Now, an NFL doctor is speaking out.
NFL Doctor Calls Jack Campbell Neck Injury “Concerning” and Not Typical

Former NFL doctor David J. Chao discussed Lions linebacker Jack Campbell’s neck injury from the game vs. the Vikings.
He says it is not typical for the NFL, notes that the on-field video did not look like a mechanism that would cause paralysis.
“I hope and pray the best for him… for Jack Campbell. This is not the norm,” he stated.
“Look, I hope for a great, great, great outcome. I pray for one for him. And to be fair, it didn’t look like the video was anything horrific that we would worry about being paralyzed.”
Chao called the ongoing hospitalization and slow updates concerning while expressing hope for a positive outcome.
“However, there’s clearly some more than typical… This is not the same pattern here,” Chao added.
“Let’s respect Jack Campbell and his family. Let’s hope for the best. However, this is concerning… do we have the everything’s fine with his extremities like you normally hear? Not yet.”
“I don’t see it as paralysis. I hope to be correct on that. But let me tell you something: Good news comes fast. Bad news comes slowly,” he ended.

The best news right now is that he might be out for the season and can rehab to get better. The worst news for Jack Campbell is that we watched a man’s career end on the field, and his life might be changed forever.
