It appears there will be a ton more movement when it comes to the broadcasting world. Earlier this week, we found out that Troy Aikman and Joe Buck got into an argument. It stemmed from Buck receiving a new deal from ESPN.

However, Aikman has yet to receive an offer. Because of that, he seemingly made it clear that he will be leaving ESPN after his contract is up in 2027.

Now, it appears that Greg Olsen might be following in his footsteps.

For years, Sunday afternoons belonged to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, a pairing that would go from Fox to ESPN. When they left, they handed the keys to Greg Olsen and Kevin Burkhardt. Then Tom Brady came along and took Olsen’s number one spot from him.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that Olsen might be on his way out.

“FOX has not had any negotiations with Greg Olsen about a contract beyond this season, per industry sources,” veteran sportswriter Richard Deitsch reported on X.

“Olsen’s contract expires at the end of this NFL season. Something notable is Olsen had exploratory talks with CBS Sports two years ago. He’s already called a Super Bowl and enjoys critical praise. Would be a very attractive free agent.”

Greg Olsen officially transitioned to a full-time broadcasting career with Fox Sports in 2021, after his retirement from the NFL.

Olsen has repeatedly expressed his desire to return to a No. 1 booth. However, with Tom Brady locked into a massive 10-year, $375 million deal as Fox’s lead analyst, there is no path to reclaim the top chair at the network.

With Troy Aikman seemingly on his way out as well, the next best decision for Olsen is clear.

Multiple Emmy awards have been won by Olsen throughout his sports broadcasting career. Most recently, the prestigious prize was taken by the veteran analyst over Tom Brady. By next year, the top chair at a rival network will likely be occupied by Olsen.
