A place kicker prospect shocked the world with his abilities on Wednesday. UTSA product Jaffer Murphy reportedly drew a lot of attention from NFL scouts during his Pro Day in San Antonio.

Murphy’s speed and leg strength stole the show, and now multiple teams have become interested in the senior. NFL reporter Arye Pulli labeled Murphy’s Pro Day as “insane,” noting that the player was clocked as low as 4.47 in the 40-yard dash. He also went 12 of 13 on field goals, including a 70-yarder that went through despite a crosswind.

According to Easton Butler of 247Sports, 18 NFL team representatives attended his Pro Day. Murphy spoke with every team in attendance.

After a fan predicted Jaffer Murphy wouldn’t get drafted, but would be signed as an undrafted free agent, Arye Pulli mentioned a team that “really liked” what they saw from the player.

“From what I’ve heard, the 49ers were one of the teams in attendance and really liked what they saw,” he tweeted.

The 49ers had Eddy Pineiro as their kicker in 2025. He went 29 of 29 on field goals and 34 of 38 on extra points. Murphy turned a lot of heads with his performance and the Niners, despite signing Pineiro to a four-year extension, could make a splash with the prospect.
