Former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe is standing up for Jed York. The San Francisco 49ers owner was arrested over the weekend in Ohio. Charges stemmed from an alleged attempt to pay $140 for s*x.
York pleaded no contest to reduced disorderly conduct charges. He paid $1,150 in fines and received credit for time served. The NFL is reviewing the matter under its personal conduct policy.
Sharpe addressed the situation on his Nightcap podcast.
“Ain’t nothing wrong with that,” he said with a smirk. “Come on, man. You think the man cause he’s worth a billion dollars he don’t want to wet his whistle?”
“They the ones that got all the moves,” Sharpe insisted. “Remember I told you, ‘She had more moves than a $100 h**ker?’ Them the ones that got the moves, the $5,000 ones don’t do nothing but model.”
Jed York Arrest Draws Sharp Defense From Sharpe
Sharpe went further in his comments.
“It don’t make him no bad brother,” he added. “The man is human… he a man and he still got needs.”
He also noted that some people prefer a certain type of encounter.
“Sometimes you like them sleazy,” Sharpe said.
Co-host Chad Johnson largely agreed, while Joe Johnson expressed more skepticism.
The 49ers issued a brief statement. The team called it a resolved legal matter and declined further comment. Coach Kyle Shanahan said the incident will have no effect on the football team.
Jed York Situation Brings Sharpe’s Own Past Into View
Sharpe’s defense comes after his own high-profile legal issues. He previously settled a $50 million lawsuit filed by an OnlyFans model. Both sides later acknowledged a consensual relationship.
