Los Angeles Rams Make Final Call On Star WR Trade That Would Rock The NFL After Insider Reveals Surprise Talks

The Los Angeles Rams entered the offseason with big expectations after a strong 2025 season. The team made a deep playoff run and nearly reached the Super Bowl. Quarterback Matthew Stafford led the charge and had the best season of his career, winning his first NFL MVP award.
Now the Rams want to carry that success into the 2026 season. Team leaders believe the roster is strong enough to compete for another championship. The front office has already shown that mindset with bold plans and aggressive moves.
One idea surprised many people around the league. The Rams recently held trade talks with the Philadelphia Eagles about wide receiver AJ Brown. NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported the discussions. However, the talks did not lead to a deal. The Eagles wanted more in return, and the Rams chose not to continue negotiations.
Los Angeles already has one of the strongest receiving groups in the league. Rising star Puka Nacua and veteran Davante Adams led the passing attack last season. Stafford threw for a league-best 4,707 yards and a career-high 46 touchdowns.
Even with that success, the Rams still explored the possibility of trading for Brown. The move showed that the front office at least considered adding another elite receiver before deciding to move on.
Rams Stay Aggressive While Reshaping Coaching Staff

The Rams eventually decided not to continue trade talks for Brown. General manager Les Snead and team leaders backed away once the asking price became too high. The team believes its current wide receiver group can lead the offense again in 2026.
Another team around the league could still try to trade for Brown. Reports say the New England Patriots are a strong possibility. A deal would reunite Brown with former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. The Patriots also want to give young quarterback Drake Maye a true No. 1 receiver. That need became clearer after news that Stefon Diggs could be released next week.

Even though the Rams stepped away from the Brown trade idea, they still made a big change on their coaching staff. Head coach Sean McVay added former Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to the staff.
McVay expects Kingsbury to play an important role as the team’s assistant head coach.
“Kliff will be the assistant head coach,” McVay said. “Great overseer of a lot of things offensively.”
McVay also stressed collaboration between the two coaches. “There might be some times for us to figure out where things fit,” McVay said. “Most importantly, he’ll be someone I can lean on with a lot of the things that come up in this chair.”
The Rams may have passed on Brown, but their moves show one clear message. Los Angeles plans to stay aggressive while chasing another championship run.
