Emeka Egbuka has addressed the controversial social media post that nearly got him canceled.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver took on significant heat after a tweet from an account believed to belong to him went viral on X.
It read “Is CTE even real?”
The Bucs later denied that Egbuka owns the account in question, @EgbukaEmeka, which has since been suspended.
“The below account is neither owned nor operated by Emeka Egbuka,” the team said in a statement. “It is in no way affiliated with Emeka or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”
Emeka Egbuka Speaks For Himself

Egbuka’s teammates follow the account, and the team’s own account has tagged him in multiple posts, making this all the more bizarre. Moreover, the NFLPA’s official account follows it. Or maybe they all did before this week.
The wideout has since taken to Instagram to clear the air, claiming he hasn’t used X, Twitter back then, since he was in high school.
“For anyone wondering, I haven’t had twitter since high school,” he wrote. “That account on X isn’t me.”

Egbuka played all 17 games for Tampa Bay in his rookie season, making 63 catches for 938 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
He gets the benefit of the doubt here, right?
