The New York Jets have had a busy 2026 NFL offseason. The AFC East team had another disappointing season in 2025 and is now looking to make a splash to try to compete in 2026.

While some consider that they are in the race to draft Arch Manning in 2027, the Jets could make some win-now moves to see how far they can go in Aaron Glenn’s second season on the sideline.

After completing a blockbuster trade with the Miami Dolphins, landing Minkah Fitzpatrick, they continue planning for the new season. Additionally, they planned to work out quarterback prospect Garrett Nussmeier, son of the New Orleans Saints’ offensive coordinator, Doug Nussmeier.

New York Jets Could Land Brian Thomas Jr. In Big Trade Proposal

The Jets also need some playmakers. Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report thinks they could overspend to land Jacksonville Jaguars star wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. The trade would send a 2026 first-round pick (No. 16 overall), a 2026 fifth-round pick (No. 179 overall) and a 2027 second-round pick to Jacksonville, while the Jets would get Thomas and a 2026 third-round pick (No. 100 overall).

“The Jets are loaded for bear to get that quarterback in 2027, with three first-rounders. In the interim, the team should be looking to improve the situation that quarterback will be walking into. And outside Garrett Wilson, the pass-catching corps in New York is among the NFL’s weakest,” Davenport wrote.

Thomas’ 2025 season wasn’t the best, but he can still bounce back and live up to the expectations. The Jets could cash in on that, but they would need to put a reliable quarterback under center, too.
