Peyton Manning’s son stepped onto the high school field for the first time. Marshall Manning took snaps as the backup quarterback for Baylor School in Tennessee. The freshman saw action in a scrimmage against powerhouse Buford from Georgia.

Baylor ranks No. 12 nationally. Buford sits at No. 7 and won the MaxPreps national title last season. All eyes stayed on the young Manning throughout the night. He wore No. 16, the same number his father used at Tennessee.

A series of bad snaps limited what Marshall could do early. Still, he showed clear accuracy while throwing on the move. Video from the scrimmage quickly spread across social media.

This path differs from some family members. His cousin Arch Manning started as a true freshman in high school. Marshall, still just a freshman, joins a loaded roster that won the state title last year.

The decision to start him as backup makes sense at a top program. True freshmen rarely take over immediately at schools like Baylor. Coaches remain excited about his long-term potential.
