Ja’Quinden Jackson left the field in an ambulance Saturday night. The Philadelphia Eagles running back suffered a scary injury on the opening kickoff against the Patriots. He later received positive updates and left the hospital.

Jackson attempted a tackle on Patriots returner Lan Larison. His head appeared to collide with Larison’s leg. He stayed down for several minutes. Medical staff from both teams rushed to his aid. Jackson’s agent, Damien Butler, shared strong updates. A CT scan came back negative. Jackson stayed awake and alert.

“Tonight, above all else, we thank God that Ja’Quinden is doing well following an incredibly frightening moment during the game,” Butler said, per ESPN. “We are extremely grateful to the Philadelphia Eagles’ medical staff and the first responders whose swift actions and exceptional care supported Ja’Quinden during this critical moment.”

Jackson looked forward to rejoining his teammates once medically cleared. Later Saturday night, he was released. Shortly afterward, he joined the Eagles for their return flight to Philadelphia.

The 24-year-old signed with the Eagles on August 10. He spent last season on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad after going undrafted out of Arkansas. He added depth to a crowded backfield that includes Saquon Barkley.
