A.J. Brown Is Already Complaining About The Patriots And Drake Maye

A.J. Brown has quickly become one of the biggest storylines at New England Patriots training camp. And a recent comment about quarterback Drake Maye is now the subject of much online discussion.

A viral post quotes Brown as saying, “They’re not really letting him throw the ball right now, so I don’t like that,” referring to the Patriots’ early training camp workload for Maye.

The quote spread rapidly, with some users interpreting it as criticism of New England’s coaching staff. However, the original interview indicates Brown delivered the remark jokingly while discussing the team’s practice plan.

“This moron is a locker room problem,” one user wrote.

Another responded, “Left out the part where it says he said it as a joke, cope some more LMAO.”

A third added, “Let me know which wide receiver in the whole entire NFL would like that.”

Brown left the Philadelphia Eagles under less-than-amicable circumstances this year following a four-year spell. He even left a crude message at the team’s facility when he went to clear his locker out.

AJ Brown Has Repeatedly Praised Drake Maye Since Joining Patriots

Brown’s broader comments about Maye have been overwhelmingly positive.

During mandatory minicamp, the veteran receiver called Maye “a true leader of men” and praised his understanding of defenses, blitzes and offensive adjustments despite his young age. Brown also said the quarterback “can make any throw.”

The recent comments come as Brown and Maye continue building chemistry ahead of the regular season. The two have impressed observers throughout offseason workouts, with Brown repeatedly encouraging the young quarterback while expressing excitement about their partnership.

As mentioned above, Brown’s time in Philly did not end well. And, once he was out, he admitted that he was behind several of the damaging leaks from last season. 

Eagles fans will throw whatever dirt they can at their former wideout, but they will admit that he was one of the key pieces in their run to the Super Bowl in 2024.
