Patrick Mahomes has officially reported to the Kansas City Chiefs training camp. However, one brief video has prompted some fans to closely examine his recovery from last season’s torn ACL.

A clip shared by the Chiefs shows Mahomes arriving at Missouri Western State University ahead of training camp.

While the video simply captures the quarterback walking into the facility, several social media users focused on his left leg and questioned whether it showed signs of muscle loss after surgery.

Earlier this offseason, Mahomes looked sharp during organized team activities. But it appears fans are concerned with his gait following the Chiefs’ post.

Several of them speculated that Mahomes’ left calf appeared smaller than his right.

“That leg looks twisted, not a good sign😳,” one wrote.

Another asked, “Anyone see some muscle atrophy or is it me.”

“Muscle atrophy on that left leg is scary,” said a third.

“His left leg is a stick,” someone observed.

“Limping and look how skinny that left leg is😬,” another comment read.

Meanwhile, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has offered a much more encouraging update.

“Pat’s doing great with his rehab,” Reid told reporters on Friday. “Right now he’s got clearance to practice and do all the different periods that we have in this camp.”

Reid added that the three-time Super Bowl champion will continue to receive daily evaluations from coaches, trainers and team doctors, but emphasized that Mahomes has been fully cleared to participate.

Mahomes echoed the optimism.

“I feel stronger than I’ve ever felt, as far as strength and lifting,” he remarked. “I feel amazing… I’m excited just to be able to play football.”

Although Mahomes has continued wearing a protective brace on his left knee during camp, that alone does not indicate a setback. Teams commonly use braces during the later stages of ACL rehabilitation as players return to full football activities.

For now, the only confirmed update is that Mahomes has received medical clearance and continues practicing without restrictions.
