A former Cleveland Browns player announced a shocking decision regarding his career. Demetric Felton put an end to his career at 27.

After spending three years on a plethora of teams’ practice squads, Felton decided to end his tenure in the league. A running back out of UCLA, Felton joined the Browns after they selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 draft.

He played 24 games over two seasons, recording eight carries for 20 yards. He also caught 20 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns. The Browns waived him in 2023, when he started bouncing around multiple teams.

In an Instagram post, Demetric Felton shared his shocking decision with an emotional message.

“It’s been a ride,” he wrote. “I’m not retiring because I’m hurt. I’m not retiring because I don’t love this game. I’m retiring because I know there’s a football player out there who needs me.

“I’m retiring from professional football to take a role in Player Development with the Cleveland Browns. This is not the end of my football life. This is my evolution.

“I’m honored and grateful to the Browns for believing in me for this role. And I’m motivated to give every player I come in contact with two things I never had.

“The person who sees them for who they are, not just the stats or the wins, and the resource I wish I had every single time I walked into a new building.”

After his tenure with the Cleveland Browns (which can have new ownership), he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, Chicago Bears (twice), Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders.
