Atlanta Falcons rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels took a trip to the hospital after suffering a frightening injury against the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

The fourth-round pick was involved in a third-quarter collision as he attempted to make a tackle on tight end Colston Loveland.

Daniels appeared to strike his head against Loveland’s leg near the knee. He remained on the turf as medical personnel rushed to assist him.

Falcons players and coaches gathered around Daniels as emergency personnel prepared to remove him from the field. He appeared motionless while being taken on a cart.

Daniels was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital thereafter.

The injury initially raised serious concerns, but an update offered some encouraging news.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Falcons reported that Daniels was alert and had movement in all his extremities.

“Falcons say Kendal Daniels is alert and has movement in all his extremities,” Schefter wrote. “He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.”

Daniels had been playing a significant role in Atlanta’s defense. He was wearing the green dot as the defensive play-caller after linebacker Divine Deablo left with an arm injury.

The Bears led 21-7 at the time of the injury, with 8:48 remaining in the third quarter.

Prayers go out to Kendal Daniels on a speedy recovery.
