A former Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver has changed careers after a four-year career in the NFL. After spending time with the New York Giants, the Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns, Kadarius Toney has not played in the league since 2024.

His NFL career was surrounded by controversy, as his natural talent often clashed with the lack of consistency he showed on every team. His hands never offered security to his teams, which often rubbed fans the wrong way. Even so, he won two Super Bowls, both with the Chiefs.

After playing only three games with the Browns in 2024 (only one target), Cleveland cut Toney in December 2024. Even before he joined the NFL, Toney tried his hands in music. He uploaded videos to YouTube under the name “Yung Joka.”

NFL aggregator Dov Kleiman reported on Saturday that Toney retired from the league and wants to move on from it, asking to be considered a rapper instead of a football player.

Back in April, Toney’s NFL future was anybody’s guess. The wide receiver focused on his music career, but once people started talking about a potential retirement, he refuted those rumors with a post on Instagram.

“Goofies on the net hollerin I’m retiring,” Toney’s post read. “Just want klout (sic). Ain’t speakin on the (poop emoji) nomo.”

He didn’t deny anything directly, but calling people names was a big sign that he wasn’t ready to give up. Still, he didn’t sign with a team in 2025. Perhaps that becomes the biggest sign that he or his fans need to know that he won’t return to the competition.
