Former NFL Linebacker Gets UFC Contract After Destroying Opponent In Just 34 Seconds [VIDEO]

Anthony Wint needed 34 seconds to catapult his second career into another realm.

The former New York Jets linebacker earned a UFC contract Tuesday night after destroying Matthew Adams on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Wint overwhelmed Adams from the opening bell at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

He eventually forced the referee to stop the heavyweight bout just 34 seconds into the first round. The victory moved Wint to 7-0 as a professional MMA fighter.

Dana White clearly liked what he saw. More importantly, Wint liked what he saw, too.

The 30-year-old immediately started lobbying for his UFC debut.

“Wint is fun. This guy is all over me,” White told reporters (H/T Daily Mail). “He says, ‘I’m not leaving Las Vegas until you guys get me a fight,’ so probably put him on UFC Sacramento.”

That would mark an unusually quick turnaround.

White said he was working toward putting Wint on the UFC’s August 22 card in Sacramento.

“I love guys who want to turn around quick and fight again,” he said.

That kind of attitude apparently suits Wint perfectly.

He spent most of his life playing football before moving into MMA after his gridiron career ended.

The Florida native played college football at Florida International before signing with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He appeared in two games that season.

He later spent time with the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats before fully pursuing MMA.

“I played football my whole life. Not only football, linebacker,” Wint said ahead of his fight. “Now I’ve just got to dissect a man in three rounds.”

Tuesday night suggested he has figured out at least one part of that transition.

Wint wasn’t the only NFL connection to emerge from the event, either.

White also spent part of the night discussing Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby.

White believes Crosby could have become a world champion if he had trained in MMA from childhood.

“I know a lot of s**t about Maxx Crosby that you guys don’t know,” he claimed.

Of course, Crosby isn’t leaving the NFL for the UFC anytime soon.

Wint, meanwhile, already has one foot inside the door. And after taking 34 seconds to earn his contract, he apparently doesn’t intend to wait around.
