The Colts knew they had a major decision to make with Michael Pittman Jr.
On Monday, the team signed Alec Pierce to a four-year deal worth $60 million in guaranteed money at signing, $84 million in total guarantees, and up to $116 million overall. That is a huge amount of money that would most certainly affect other players.
Less than an hour later, the team made a decision on Pittman.
The Indianapolis Colts have made a trade. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Colts are sending Michael Pittman to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

SI’s Albert Breer added that, along with Pittman, there will be a late-round pick swap between the Colts and Steelers.
Paying Michael Pittman became less of a priority now that the team has to pay quarterback Daniel Jones. He is reportedly asking for $50 million per year.
Pittman is entering the final year of his three-year, $70 million deal and has a $29 million cap hit in 2026. The star receiver recorded 80 receptions for 784 yards and 7 touchdowns last season with the Colts.
