C.J. Stroud might have more than a new haircut to show off in the 2026 NFL season. The Houston Texans had a positive campaign in 2025, but the defense became their best unit, while the offense stole the spotlight at times.

Stroud was heavily criticized over his lack of improvement, and the offense looked stagnant more often than not. More changes could be coming in the offseason after the Texans revamped their offensive line last year.

Veteran running back Joe Mixon missed the entire season after suffering a mysterious foot injury. Initially, he would miss four games, but it turned out he missed 18 and left the Texans without one of their biggest contributors.

Breece Hall Could Replace Joe Mixon On The Texans

Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus mentioned the Houston Texans as the top landing spot for the New York Jets’ Breece Hall. Cameron noted that the New Orleans Saints could be a good fit for Hall, but his skill set allows him to thrive under different schemes.

“The Texans are a great example of that, as their run game is centered around gap concepts. They called gap runs at the second-highest rate (37%) in the NFLthis past season. Additionally, Houston struggled to generate explosive plays on the ground, ranking 30th in percentage of runs to gain 10 or more yards (7.3%). Without fearing the threat of chunk yardage out of the backfield, opposing defenses were able to tee off on C.J. Stroud,” Cameron wrote.

Breece Hall is only 24, five years younger than Mixon. He has shown off his ability at MetLife Stadium. However, he looks like one of those players held back by their teams. A change of scenery would likely take his game to the next level.
