Stefon Diggs is still the biggest offensive player up for grabs in NFL free agency, and a new report points to a potential spot in the NFC East.

The star wide receiver played the 2025 season with the New England Patriots. He started all 17 games and led the team with 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 14 catches for 110 yards and one touchdown in the playoffs.

According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Washington Commanders have come up as a team to watch.

Fowler reported Tuesday that there is mutual interest between Diggs and Washington.

“Washington is monitoring the situation with Diggs, who’s intrigued by the chance to play in Washington [he’s from the area],” Fowler said.

Fowler also noted that “it seems like this is a realistic option as the sides keep in contact.”

This update adds value to growing chatter that Diggs could sign with the Commanders before the regular season starts.

Washington heads into the season with Terry McLaurin as their main wide receiver. However, the squad lacks proven backup behind him after letting Deebo Samuel walk and adding a few big names to the group.

Luke McCaffrey could get more playing time this year. The Commanders also have Antonio Williams, Jaylin Lane, Dyami Brown, Van Jefferson, and Treylon Burks fighting for spots on the receiving corps.
