Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Dalevon Campbell might be out for some time after an injury he suffered on Thursday.
The Chargers and Rams went head-to-head on Thursday night for their final preseason matchup before the regular season. Every team wants to play well, but most of all, they want zero injuries.
Unfortunately, with players flying around everywhere, having injuries is just part of the game.
Chargers WR Dalevon Campbell Goes Down Non-Contact as Rams DB Celebrates
A non-contact collapse was captured during Thursday’s Rams-Chargers finale. Chargers wide receiver Dalevon Campbell had barely gotten off the line when he felt something wrong. Campbell lined up for what should have been a standard passing route. Unfortunately, the promising young player suddenly collapsed to the turf with a devastating, non-contact leg injury.
The incident unfolded near the line of scrimmage as the play began. Specifically, the wideout planted his foot to burst forward, but immediately went down holding his leg. While the receiver remained on the ground, the opposing cornerback launched into a standard coverage celebration.
Apparently, the defender failed to notice that Dalevon Campbell had suffered a medical issue without any physical contact.
The Outlook of The Wideout
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Dalevon Campbell couldn’t have gotten injured at a worse time.
To begin with, the injury occurred in the third quarter of the game while Campbell was running a route. Consequently, it was a non-contact injury, which immediately raised concern on the field. Furthermore, he was unable to leave the field under his own power and had to be helped directly into the locker room by the medical staff.
Before this setback, Campbell had put together an impressive training camp and was considered one of the team’s summer standouts. As a result, this injury comes at a challenging time. It was right before the team had to finalize its 53-man regular-season roster.
