The Chicago Bears surprised many around the NFL when they traded veteran wide receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills earlier this offseason. The move created more flexibility for the franchise, but it also left a major opening in the receiving corps.

Chicago now plans to lean on young playmakers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. While both receivers bring plenty of talent, the Bears still lack an experienced target who can help support quarterback Caleb Williams.

One NFL analyst believes free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs could fill that role perfectly.

Sports Illustrated analyst Gilberto Manzano recently paired the NFL’s top remaining free agents with ideal landing spots. When he evaluated Diggs’ future, he pointed to Chicago as one of the most attractive destinations.

“Perhaps the Bears take a chance on Diggs because they need an experienced wide receiver after trading DJ Moore to the Bills,” Manzano wrote.

Diggs remains one of the most productive receivers available. The four-time Pro Bowler enters the offseason with 11,504 career receiving yards and 85 touchdowns. He also brings years of playoff experience and a reputation as one of the league’s top route runners.

The veteran showed he still has plenty left in him during the 2025 season with New England. He caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns while helping quarterback Drake Maye during the Patriots’ run to Super Bowl LX.

Manzano acknowledged the attention Diggs received away from football over the past year. However, he is still relevant on the field.

“Diggs, who will turn 33 in November, still possesses considerable on-field ability,” Manzano wrote.

Chicago’s wide receiver group is currently led by Rome Odunze and Luther Burden. Kalif Raymond, Scotty Miller, Jahdae Walker, and Zavion Thomas add depth behind them. Adding Stefon Diggs would bring a proven veteran with years of production and experience.

His fit with Caleb Williams also makes sense. Diggs creates separation, runs precise routes, and consistently finds openings in coverage. Those traits could give Williams a dependable target when the offense needs a big play.

Beyond his on-field impact, Diggs could help mentor Chicago’s younger receivers. Odunze and Burden have plenty of potential, but they are still early in their NFL careers.

The financial side may not be an obstacle either. The Bears reportedly still hold more than $11 million in available salary cap space. If Diggs’ market stays quiet, Chicago could pursue him on a short-term contract.

Nothing appears close at the moment. Still, the connection remains one of the more intriguing possibilities heading toward training camp.
