A new screen recording circulating online includes a voice message exchange between a woman and a man claiming to be a San Francisco 49ers player. The conversation reads like a normal catch-up between two people. It’s anything but that.
X account @49ershive shared the clip, detailing the contents of the voice note.
“According to Daejon Love, there are three components to clearing waivers in the NFL: physical, mental, and emotional,” the post explained. “He told a woman he did not clear waivers because he broke his pinky, so he was stuck with the 49ers.”

That casual explanation was actually part of a much larger fraud scheme.
Federal Prosecutors Say He Ran This Persona For Years
Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, faces wire fraud charges after federal investigators say he posed as a 49ers wide receiver to defraud at least 26 women out of roughly $1.3 million.
According to the Justice Department, the scheme ran from February 2022 until his arrest at the Boise Airport on Aug. 24. Love met victims through dating apps, then built an elaborate persona designed to make him appear both famous and wealthy.
The “waivers” explanation fits a documented pattern. Investigators say Love used fake bank accounts, staged photos in team gear, and even footage of himself running routes on a beach in a 49ers helmet to maintain the illusion that he was actually training as an NFL player.
He allegedly used a fake accomplice, 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan, who posed as his financial advisor to help convince victims to invest their savings.
The 49ers Confirm They Have No Connection To Love
The 49ers organization confirmed to investigators that Love had no affiliation with the team or the NFL whatsoever, according to reporting on the case.
The Fugazi star reportedly told some victims he’d gone undrafted before fighting his way onto San Francisco’s roster, a detail that matches the fabricated “waivers” explanation now circulating in this latest screen recording.
One woman who says she was his final victim before his arrest has since spoken out publicly, describing a relationship that included fishing trips, travel, and a diamond ring she says he gave her.
Love and Chan remain in federal custody, with their first court appearance held on Aug. 27. Both face conspiracy and wire fraud charges, and a criminal complaint remains only an accusation until proven in court.
