Following a disappointing exit in the 2025 NFL playoffs, the Los Angeles Chargers prepare for what could be a busy offseason. Jim Harbaugh’s second campaign with the team ended on a low note against the New England Patriots in the wild-card round.

Justin Herbert didn’t have the best game, as the Patriots exposed the Chargers’ glaring issue: The offensive line. The defense sacked Herbert six times and limited him to 19 completions on 31 pass attempts. He finished with 159 yards and a 74.5 passer rating.

The offseason might bring plenty of changes for Herbert. He has been mentioned in trade rumors, with one sending him to the New York Jets for multiple draft picks. On the other hand, the Chargers have been mentioned as a potential landing spot for other stars.

A.J. Brown Linked With Chargers In Blockbuster Trade Idea

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports presented the Chargers with an intriguing trade idea. The writer identified several teams that could land A.J. Brown, whose future with the Philadelphia Eagles remains up in the air.

“Ladd McConkey took a step back from his sensational rookie season, but is still a solid option in the passing game,” Sullivan wrote. “However, Keenan Allen, who turns 34 in April, led the team with 122 targets throughout the year. Putting a talent like Brown in this mix with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel pulling the strings could be just what Herbert and the unit need to go to the next level.”

Ladd McConkey led the team in receiving yards in 2025 (789), while Brown, even with the issues he endured in Philly, finished with 1,003 to his name. McConkey and Quentin Johnston have bright futures, but the Chargers need a proven leader at WR1.

Still, the Chargers have more issues to address, starting with their offensive line. They suffered multiple injuries last season.

If they remain healthy in 2026, and they pull off a move for Brown or any other WR1 option, Los Angeles could make some noise.
