Fans were surprised to see Brandon Beane keep his job when Sean McDermott got terminated at the end of the season.

The general manager will lead scouting as the Buffalo Bills look to surround Josh Allen with fresh talent. But it appears one wide receiver is already off his list.

A hot mic caught Bean trash-talking Ohio State wideout Carnell Tate while he ran the 40-yard dash this weekend.

“He’s pretty slow, I probably wouldn’t take him early,” Beane said as Tate recorded a 4.54.

Was Brandon Beane Being Genuine Here?

Most Fans didn’t believe Beane actually meant that, suggesting the GM has every intention of drafting Tate.

“These GMs still are getting fooled by the 40 yard dash🤦🏾‍♂️,” someone commented.

“The man said it loud enough for everyone to hear and thats not an accident. You dont trash talk a prospect at the combine unless you want that narrative out there. Either he genuinely doesnt rate him or hes trying to tank his stock so he falls to a later round where Buffalo can grab him cheap,” said a second.

“Joke went right over your head big guy,” wrote a third.

This is just Beane trying to scare off the other GMs so he can pair Josh Allen with another elite Ohio State receiver. The grind to get a WR1 never stops,” someone else suggested.

Of course, time will tell.

Tate hauled in 51 receptions for 875 yards and nine touchdowns for the Buckeyes last season.
